Description of TPS61230DRC
A high efficiency synchronous step up converter with a small solution size is the TPS6123x device family. It is designed to work best with products that are powered by a 3.3 V regulated power rail or a one-cell Li-Ion battery.
The TPS61230DRC incorporates a 5-A switch and has a 5-V output with a 3.3-V input supply that can generate output currents of up to 2.1 A. The system is based on a valley current mode control with a quasi-constant on-time.
A modest solution size can be achieved by using small inductors and capacitors at the typical operating frequency of 2 MHz. The TPS61230DRC has a fixed output voltage of 5 V, whereas the TPS61230 and TPS61231 offer an adjustable output voltage through an external resistor divider.
The TPS6123x enters power-saving mode automatically while under light loads to achieve optimal efficiency at the lowest quiescent currents. The load is entirely detached from the input during shutdown, and the input current usage is typically 1.5 A.
A precise low power EN comparator is integrated within the gadget. In order to accommodate application-specific system power up and down needs, the EN threshold as well as the hysteresis of the enable comparator are programmable with external resistors.
Additionally, there are built-in features such output over voltage protection, thermal shutdown prevention, and a power good output. A 3 mm x 3 mm x 0.9 mm VSON box with the devices is offered.
